At Zen Paws Pet Spa, grooming is healthcare, not cosmetic. Proper scheduling ensures your pet’s comfort, coat integrity, and a low-stress grooming experience.

 

We’ve structured nail care to fit your routine:

Morning: 9:00 – 10:00 AM

Evening: 5:00 – 6:00 PM

Appointments every 10 minutes

Once Memberships come into effect, a benefit of a Paw'dicure Membership will being able to schedule nail trims at any time of day.

 

 

🧬 Coat Philosophy (Important)

All dogs are considered double coated.
This is a species trait—not a breed trait.

Within that, some pets fall into a Double/Heavy Coat category, which requires:

Additional time

Advanced coat processing

Specialized grooming techniques

This ensures proper booking time and the best outcome for your dog.

Every 6 weeks

 

👉 Membership Clients:
Appointments are pre-scheduled at sign-up to maintain consistency and availability.

🐩 Longer Coat Maintenance (1" or Longer)

If your pet’s coat is kept at 1 inch or longer:

👉 Required Schedule:
Every 4 weeks

👉 Why?
Long coats require frequent maintenance to avoid:

Matting and skin irritation

Painful grooming sessions

Full shave-downs due to neglect

💡 If this schedule cannot be maintained, coat length may need to be reduced for your pet’s well-being.

 

🛁 Bath & Blow (No Haircut)

👉 Recommended Schedule:
Every 8 weeks

👉 Best For:

Short-coated breeds

Maintenance between grooming services

Double and heavy-coated dogs needing routine coat care

👉 Includes:
Bath, blow dry, brush out, nail care, ear care, and hygiene maintenance.

👉 Why it’s important:
Bath & Blow services are essential for:

De-shedding loose undercoat

Maintaining healthy skin and coat

Helping your dog properly regulate body temperature

💡 A properly maintained coat insulates in both hot and cold weather—neglecting it can lead to overheating, discomfort, and skin issues.

 

🐕 Understanding Service Selection

Choosing the correct service depends on:

Desired outcome (natural vs styled)

Coat length at drop-off

 

🐾 Example: Golden Retriever

👉 A Golden Retriever is scheduled as:

Contour – Double/Heavy Coated Large + 1" Plus

✔ This includes:

Outline shaping (silhouette trim AKA Contour)

Maintenance of natural coat

Full coat processing

 

👉 If the owner prefers short furnishings (feathers trimmed very short or removed):

This becomes a:

Style – Double/Heavy Coated Large + 1" Plus

✔ Because:

The service shifts from shaping → hair removal/styling

 

📏 What Does “1” Plus” Mean?

The 1" Plus Fee applies when pets arrive with long coat that must be processed before grooming, including:

Bathing

Drying

Brushing / de-shedding

Pre-shaving (if needed)

👉 This is required to properly prepare the coat for safe and effective grooming.

💡 Even if the final result is shorter, the starting coat condition determines the workload.
